Benefit Trust: Renewals & RemindersCalPERS Announces 2009 Open Enrollment Period The 2009 Open Enrollment period is Sept. 15, 2008, through Oct. 10, 2008. Any changes you request for your medical and dental programs will be effective Jan. 1, 2009. To make changes to your medical or dental programs, just visit your personnel specialist during this time period and complete the required paperwork. Want to know about 2009 health program changes and rates? Information will be available in late summer. Please check the Trust website at www.ccpoabtf.org or www.calpers.ca.gov. CCPOA Medical Plan The CCPOA Medical Plan continues to increase in size. As of May 1, 2008, the Plan had 10,965 CCPOA members, and with 6,548 subscribers selecting family coverage, 34,511 family members are covered under this CCPOA members-only medical program. In addition to offering two customer service teams, the CCPOA Medical Plan offers a unique plan design to bring CCPOA members in many areas of the state the rates and coverage they need and deserve. The Plan offers an online Healthy Lifestyles Reward program that pays subscribers up to $200 for taking an online health assessment and completing various wellness programs. To enroll, register at www.blueshieldca.com. Another advantage of the CCPOA Medical Plan is the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line. Plan participants can call (866) 543-3728 anytime when they are hurt, sick, or need health care advice. This is another way we are keeping your medical expenses down while increasing the convenience of using your medical benefit. New Deduction Code Ever wonder what all those deduction codes mean on your paycheck? This year the Trust Fund simplified one deduction code. Look for CCPOA-BTF on your pay stub. This deduction code is used for all voluntary programs you are enrolled in through the Trust and replaces the old code: CCPOA IDT/T. Disability Benefit Program–Occupational Rider Are you a Gold Shield member? The Trust's Disability Benefit Program can provide affordable disability protection at just $65 per month, offering you a way to meet basic living expenses if you have a non-occupational disability. But did you know that for an additional $23 a month you can add an Occupational Rider? For only $88 a month total, you can have both on- and off-the-job disability protection. Without this rider, you are not covered if your disability is considered work related. Please contact the Trust for enrollment materials and additional information. Are you planning a leave? Are you thinking of joining one of our voluntary programs while you are out on a leave of absence, or just before taking a leave? If so, the Trust wants you to know that enrollment cannot be processed by the state if you are on a leave of absence. You must be on Active status to participate in any Trust voluntary program. Term Life Insurance The Trust offers affordable term life insurance at low group rates. If you have not joined, here are a few features in addition to the low monthly premiums:
The Trust sent a benefit summary to all participants in early summer. The summary is a record of all voluntary programs you are enrolled in through the Trust. Also included was a beneficiary change form to allow you to update who will receive your death benefit. If you have not received a benefit summary from the Trust please call (800) IN-UNIT-6 and request yours today. Print This PageBack to Volume 25, Issue 5 Back to PEACEKeeper Main Page |
